Wassup LiyiaTribe!!!!!! Thank you for tuning in at Under the Layers. Today is December 8, 2020, and today we're discussing the car buying process. I was blessed to at the age of 17, let me tell you guys, you have to be sooo determined to do this because it is not easy. And also it doesn’t matter if you don’t receive the car in the time span you want it, life works in mysterious ways and you don’t know what the spirits have planned for you. You will have doubts and question your judgment, but everything you do will pay off. Without further ado, let us get into some key tips, steps, and my process on how I bought my car. For starters, I was looking for cars when I bought my own, but I was still trying to save up more money so that I could actually buy one that is worth something, hence why I got two jobs. I remember I was going to the nail shop with my mom and my friend Perris and we passed by this gas station. Now on the corner of this gas station were cars for sale, and my family and friends know that I wanted a Nissan as the first car I just liked Nissans. There was a Nissan on the corner and it was for sale. Therefore, I asked my mom on the way back could we go look at the car and she was like sure, because both of us just thought that we were just looking at it. After we were leaving the nail shop we drove over to the gas station and saw the car was very very close to the amount of money I had saved up I was missing like 300$, so my mom called the number on the car. After all, at this point, I was in tears, because I really wanted this car. After she was done on the phone she said that she would call him when we got home, but she got on the phone with one of her friends and some of yall know how that goes, so I decided to get in contact with the man personally myself. Which actually helped a lot and I’ll tell you why so he said that he wouldn’t mind setting up a personal payment plan but I was like nah I don’t want to owe anyone anything I just want to buy it in full. My mom still had plenty of questions about the car because overall she wanted me to be safe so she said she would call him in the morning. BOYYYYYYY when I tell you my mother’s negotiation game is A1 it is A1, she told this man that I cried when I found out the true price and he dropped the price to what I had saved up, but it gets better….. SO my mom was the brains of the operation I am not gonna even lie to you, so when we decided to take the car for a test drive and find out any problems that it had she brought our family mechanic! So any problems or whatever is wrong with it, he would know. He got the price down to 2,900!!! For a 2008 Nissan Altima, that’s listed price was 3,850 and there are no major problems with the car. OKAY MOVING ON TO THE PROCESS AND TIPS, ALL THAT GOOD STUFF! I gave a deposit to the seller so basically, that holds your spot meaning if someone wanted to buy the car at a higher price than you or whatever the case may be, technically they can’t because the car is already partially yours. The next day I went to the bank so I could basically drain my whole bank account any who’s, once I gave him the final amount of money I got the keys and all that, but you can only drive a new or used car that you just bought without a tag temporary or not for the first week. After that, you need to go to wherever to get your temporary tag. When that week passed buy I kept the receipt in my car just in case I got pulled over and all that good stuff, but I knew I would have to go to the dealership where their actual location was and pay for my damn tags. So when that day came they told me in advance that the total would be 400$ even. I paid half and my dad paid the other, I finished getting my car registered received my temporary tag. There really isn’t much to buy a car just make sure you look at all the pros and cons of the vehicle. Just in case you guys were wondering my baby’s name is Midnight and he is a boy!
