Good Evening beautiful people, it is Caliyia and welcome back to another weekly entry here at Under the Layers!!!! Today is March 21, 2021 and look at me still and I am not even late with the upload, at least not at this particular moment it is only 10:11. Thank you my one or two consistent viewer’s lol! All right so today I have assigned the topic “A list of stereotypes that need to go away” this is also going to be a YouTube video that I will hopefully be filming this week. I am not going to this is a hard thing to discuss it takes some time and thought, this is a prompt that cannot be done in on instant, with that being said I did reach out to my Instagram followers for some assistance. We will see how that goes because they are not reliable at all. You know that today is Sunday and this is my weekly entry/ check in. Today I was out running errands such as food shopping and other shopping today, so I can restock on the things I need to successfully lose weight to be healthy. Okay okay I am rambling through typing so I do not have to get into this prompt that I really do not know how to answer, but I guess I will just suck it up and deal with it. STEREOTYPES THAT NEED TO GO AWAY!!!
~ Tattoos/Piercings on an African American male or female does not make them a target! – I did not know this shit was real until about last year when I got my first couple tattoos. It’s like people treat you differently just because you have ink there your skin or jewelry attached to your body, even people that I knew looked at me like I was a drug dealer when I am deadass nowhere near like that. Jobs take your image into consideration so make sure to hide anything that shows you to be different then the person. I’m like yo its 2021, we haven’t normalized this, like I became a part of a stereotype and I don’t know basically any rap songs or drug dealers.
~ Every black male with hair is a thug!- This a seriously bad stereotype that we are faced with in modern day American society, whether it’s an African American male with dreads, braids, or even with a nice cut and the rest is in a ponytail. Your hairstyle that you have should not affiliate you with a descriptive social group just because you are black.
~ Girls can cry and show emotion but boys need to toughen up and be a man!!!- I will not embed this into my children’s head because this shit is just stupid all in general. This simple phrase is the reason why some males do not know how to recognize when something is wrong or identify why is someone feeling the way they feel. This also hurts there communicative skills. This equally messes up girls sensory mechanisms while growing up, we are told to be more feminine and stay in our “traditional” way of living. I mean this stuff is still happening today did anyone see what was going on during the NCAA tournament.
~ It is normal to treat your son different from your daughter during the “Coming of age process”- I go through this still to this day in my household and I have one word for you absolute HORSESHIT! Your son should not be treated differently from your daughter when it comes to grades, sports, relationships, ambition, etc. Since this is a touchy subject, I am just going to leave this alone with what I have said.
~ Your parents know what is best for you- When you parent is pregnant with you they are still just a person, they only learn what they have grasped in the world by learning, listening, seeing, and obtaining. This does not mean they have the proper approach when handling problems they have never been in the position of handling before we can only express what we have obtained in our lives, no matter where it comes from. So if you parent did not go to college or major in what you have your eye on who is to say they know what is best for you in this situation? Just think on that.
I got into a lot of deep topics and I am not gonna lie, I did not think I was going to come up with half of these but umm I did a damn good job and that you Lamarshall even if you don’t read this for actually participating in my Instagram post it was gladly appreciated. Moving forward since this still is a weekly entry on Tuesday I will be discussing “How to lose weight and feel awesome!” I am ecstatic that I can write about this topic coming up because I am starting to feel better about my life position which makes me feel good all-around I am wayyy to close to my goal to give up now and go back to old habits. I do not want to have a heart attack at 25 because I was focusing on eating for fun and not for health. Then on Thursday, I will be trying as best as I can to give tips on talking to your crush were gonna see how this goes since I have very sever anxiety and can’t even look a normal guy I don’t even like in the face for no more than five seconds sooo umm yeah. This week will of course going to be focusing on YouTube, Blogging, I still have not mastered my working out schedule but we will figure it out, and my final days with my current jobs. With all that being said I will be dropping my next YouTube video Tomorrow (technically today since I uploaded late but still started on Sunday), it is my car tour video and all I can say it is different and pretty interesting. Later in the week I will try to film my other video that is based on this blog, but we will see I am just now starting to get back consistent with my life the last thing I want to do is fall off track because I put two videos in my plan.
